With a dovetail joint the wood can expand and contract freely without compromising the strength of the joint.
Our Furniture:
Construction, hardware, finishes
Quality construction
Quagga designs are created with exacting attention to detail and built to provide a lifetime of use and enjoyment. We pride ourselves on the quality of every piece of furniture.
Dovetail joints
We use solid wood in our drawer boxes and straight dovetails for extremely strong joints. Once glued, it requires no mechanical fasteners. The dovetail joint probably pre-dates written history. Some of the earliest known examples of the dovetail joint have been found in furniture dating from the First Dynasty of Ancient Egypt.
drawer slides
The drawer slides in our dressers, tables and wardrobes come from leading European hardware manufacturers. They feature self-closing mechanisms and have a built-in height adjustment.
metal door hinges with soft-close
Our hinges are designed to gently and quietly pull a door closed after the door handle has been released.
Lacquer
Clear or natural wood finishes permit the natural beauty of grain and color tone variations to show through. We spray or lacquer the wood surfaces of our furniture 3 times. The type of lacquer used is specific to the type of wood and its properties. UV lacquered surfaces are especially scratch and dent resistent and good for colour retention. NC (Nitrocellous) lacquer dries quickly and is very resilient towards friction and alcohol.
All our lacquers are easily repairable and meet the German manufacturing standards, EN71-3 and DIN 53160
Metal height adjustments for bed slats
All beds are equipped with galvanized metal brackets that will allow the bed slats to be raised to 4 different heights. The brackets are securely screwed to the side rails.
